WHITSUNDAY music fans are counting down the days until the Wintermoon Festival - the time when music lovers are treated to a feast of their favourite music in one far too short weekend.

From 28 April to 1 May the picturesque rural festival site, ten minutes west of Calen, will be filled with campers and day visitors, anxious to relax away from the pressures of cyclone recovery.

For 21 years, Wintermoon Festival has been renowned for the quality and variety of its music.

All the excellent 2017 music acts are detailed on the festival website www.wintermoonfestival.com and there are links to the musicians' websites and their music samples to tempt you to see them live at the festival.

The festival program will be published on the website soon

Acoustic, blues, roots, trad, blue grass, world, Celtic, gypsy and country music all have a place in the jam packed Wintermoon program which stretches from 8am to midnight daily and the skilled programming means that acts have a variety of times at different venues.

The bands for Wintermoon 2017 include The Bushwackers, The Round Mountain Girls, The Damian Howard Band, The Hillbilly Goats, The Angela Toohey Band, The Calling Brothers, The Coconut Kids, The Fat Cigars, Fez and the Fox, The Jay Bishoff Band and Sun Salute are just some of the bands from all over Australia.

For quieter music there are talented duos including David Flower and Caroline Trengrove, The Kirwan Sisters, Lux Nomad and The Innes Campbell Duo and among the solo performers are Casey Marie, John Ralph, Loren Kate, Matty Rogers, Niq Reefman and Tattyfaez Ablaze.

Music workshops and a blackboard stage offer opportunities for aspiring local musicians and local poets and poetry fans will love the daily Poets' Breakfasts

Camping tickets are selling out fast online with limited spaces still available only at the Orange Grove and Stony Creek camp grounds while the very popular day tickets will be available at the gate.

You are invited to take time out from your cyclone recovery to enjoy this popular feast of fine music, fun and friendship only a short drive away to the south.
