Year ends on a high

IT WAS a celebration of community spirit at the Proserpine Youth Space's Christmas Party yesterday.

After a challenging year for many local families post-cyclone, a slew of sponsors rallied to ensure the 40 children in attendance finished their year with a beaming smile.

Luke Anderson, of Anderson Scaffolding, led the pack by gifting each a $30 sports store gift card.

"I'm just in awe of Luke for doing that,” said Youth Space co-ordinator Donna Lawrence.

"You can get a new pair of shoes nowadays for that amount - these children are walking in here in shoes with holes in them.

"It's been a tough year for many after the cyclone; some still have tarps on their roofs.”

The other sponsors were: The Proserpine Yoga Studio (pizzas); Proserpine Subway; Whitsunday Food Service; Crossley Holden Proserpine (soft drinks) and My88FM (Christmas goodies).
