A YOUNG local angler is on the cusp of realising a dream.

But it is going to take some online support of 16-year-old Dane von Nida for him to win the coveted prize offered by Aussie Fly Fisher.

Kane is already one of three finalists in Australia but he needs you to jump on the the Aussie Fly Fisher Facebook page and vote for his picture by "liking” it to snatch victory.

To be sure Dane gets your vote click on the photo of Dane and then like his photo.

The Proserpine local is vying for a place in the AFF Youth Academy, which includes an all-expenses-paid fly fishing trip to New Zealand and the Blue Mountains with an expert local guide.

Also in the prize pack is photographic and video training and the chance to publish an article in FlyLife Magazine, Australia and New Zealand's most popular fly fishing magazine.

Kane has always enjoyed fishing but it has only been in the last two years he has been taking the past time seriously as a sport.

"I caught my first big barra and I was hooked,” he said.

Kane said not only would the trip be an amazing experience but it had the potential to unlock career possibilities in the recreational fishing industry.

"There is a fair few anglers who make a living from the sport. Especially in America fishing for bass.”

Voting closes tomorrow evening (Monday) at 6pm.
